Hydrotherapy refers to the use of water for medical treatment, healing, pain and discomfort relief, and the promotion of physical well-being. Dating back to
ancient Greek and Rome, the use of water for therapy has a long tradition, drawing upon the healing properties of water and the body's reaction to heat and cold.
In hydrotherapy, water can take the form of steam, liquid, or ice which is applied internally or externally. Cold water, which naturally stimulates and invigorates, is
used to increase the body's internal activity, while warm water, with its calming and soothing effect, slows these processes down. Alternating between cold and
hot water treatments, also known as hydrothermal therapy, is effective to reduce inflammation, enhance certain body functions, and heal injury.

needles, to acupuncture points on the body. The current is usually 40-80 volts, however no current is actually transmitted through the
body— there is only enough stimulation for the patient to feel a slight pulsating sensation. A standard treatment session usually lasts
between 10 and 20 minutes and rarely exceeds half an hour.

Acupuncture improves the body's functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites--commonly referred to as acupuncture points,
or acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further
enhance the effects. Other acupoint stimulation techniques include: manual massage, moxibustion or heat therapy, cupping, and the application of topical herbal medicines
and linaments

below the navel. A special type of tub is used for the purpose. The tub is filled with water in such a way that it covers the hips and reaches upto the navel
when the patient sits in it. Generally, four to six gallons of water are required. If the special tub is not available, a common tub may be used. A support may

Cupping And Acupuncture
Generally, cupping is combined with acupuncture in one treatment, but it can also be used alone. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping
can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used
to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. For fat loss and cellulite treatments, oil is first applied
to the skin, and then the cups are moved up and down the surrounding area.
Like acupuncture, cupping follows the lines of the meridians. There are five
meridian lines on the back, and these are where the cups are usually placed.
Using these points, cupping can help to align and relax qi, as well as target
more specific maladies. By targeting the meridian channels, cupping strives to
'open' these channels - the paths through which life energy flows freely
throughout the body, through all tissues and organs, thus providing a smoother
and more free-flowing qi (life force). Cupping is one of the best deep-tissue
therapies available. It is thought to affect tissues up to four inches deep from the
external skin. Toxins can be released, blockages can be cleared, and veins and
arteries can be refreshed within these four inches of affected materials. Even
hands, wrists, legs, and ankles can be 'cupped,' thus applying the healing to
specific organs that correlate with these points.

Clinical cupping involves placing cups with the minute piercing of skin with very fine needle and with the help Suction it relies some blood through the skin which

muscle pain. Qi and blood that causes pain and disease. Cupping invigorates local circulation of qi and blood in the area being treated, resolving swelling, pain,
and tension. By drawing impurities to the surface, it removes toxins. From a Western physiology perspective, cupping loosens connective tissue or fascia and
stimulated blood flow to the surface. Cupping stimulates tissue relaxation and better cell-to-cell communication. The research of U.S. physiologist and acupuncturist
Helene Langevin has documented cell-level changes using an ultrasound camera. She has demonstrated that techniques like cupping, acupuncture, and massage
relax tissue and reduce markers of inflammation. Inflammatory cytokines (chemical messengers) are reduced, and cytokines that promote healing and relaxation
are increased.
