Tarpanam is a widely executed therapeutic procedure for the treatment of the ophthalmological diseases. Eyes are completely made to have a boundary wall like a
well and it is purely bathed by medicated ghee for a specific time. The patient should keep closed eyes or open eyes and remain in the therapy bed for those minutes
of therapy. It helps to improve the vision, and prevent the degenerative diseases caused by the optical nerves. After the therapy, the patient will have good and clear vision.
The word Tarpana is derived from the root 'trup', by adding 'lyut' pratyaya', it became tarpana, which means nourishment to the eyes by fatty materials.
